ThinkSpot Therapy Team

Terri Schaefer, LCSW-S, Co-Founder/Owner

I’ve always known I wanted to be a social worker and therapist. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in both clinical and leadership roles, from small organizations to large healthcare systems, gaining insights that ultimately led me to co-found ThinkSpot with Stephanie.

At ThinkSpot, Stephanie and I combine our passion for working with individuals with our commitment to making a broader community impact. We believe every person has unique strengths, and our role as therapists is to help clients recognize and build on those strengths to create meaningful change.

Our mission at ThinkSpot is simple: to provide inclusive, accessible, and high-quality care in a welcoming space where people and principles come first.

Looking back, I can recall the many people, in my personal and professional life, that helped me become the counselor I am today. There has always been a place in my heart for those that challenged me in ways I could never have imagined. They have inspired me to not only wish for a stronger foundation in the mental health community, but to do my best in contributing in any way that I can. In co-founding ThinkSpot with Terri, I hope to influence change by providing resources that generate empowerment and education for mental health professionals and our community.

Empowerment and collaboration have always been key aspects in my approach with clients and other mental health professionals. Collaborating in working towards that sense of confidence and self understanding can be such a significant journey. With empowerment in mind, I work with clients to see the overarching goal of ‘becoming their own counselor,’ which is a fundamental component to ThinkSpot’s objective.

Over the years in working directly with clients, it has become evident that our community experiences a significant lack of peer support, collaboration with other medical professionals, top-tier counseling for clients and effective training for counselors. In partnering with Terri, my hope is to address these needs, in creating a more supportive and collaborative mental health environment for our community. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do so!

If you find yourself struggling with intimidating, overwhelming, or confusing life transitions, you are not alone. Change and challenges are part of the human experience—but with the right support, it is possible to navigate these seasons with acceptance and hope.

I am passionate about helping clients through a variety of life challenges, including relationship concerns, stress (both acute and chronic), anxiety, depression, trauma, and feelings of shame or guilt. My work centers on you and your story—acknowledging what is and isn’t serving you, while exploring what life may be teaching you in this moment.

Using evidence-based methods, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I will guide you in developing healthy coping skills and new perspectives. Therapy provides the unique opportunity to talk with someone outside of your everyday circle—someone who listens with intention, challenges unhelpful patterns, and helps you discover ways to bring peace to your inner world.

Together, we will identify your needs and set realistic, meaningful goals so you can embrace a more authentic version of yourself and move forward with confidence.

At times, life can feel fragmented—forcing us to compartmentalize our thoughts and feelings and silence our own needs. Even the most resilient individuals can feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges. The good news is, there is a path toward wholeness and fulfillment, and counseling can help illuminate that path.

I am passionate about helping clients deconstruct limiting beliefs and rebuild healthier perspectives that foster growth, resilience, and joy. My experience includes working with individuals navigating complex trauma, intimate partner violence, unresolved grief and loss, and relational challenges. I also support clients through significant life transitions using integrative, holistic, and evidence-based approaches.

I believe every person’s perspective is shaped by their unique experiences. That’s why I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship with each client—taking time to truly understand their story and needs. Together, we will create a foundation for lasting change, so you can live more fully and authentically.

Growth and change can be challenging—sometimes even unbearable—and often bring feelings of loss and grief. Whether you are learning to set boundaries for the first time, coping with declining health, or facing the reality that a hoped-for relationship may never become what you envisioned, it is possible to meet life’s changes—both welcome and unwelcome—with resilience and hope. With the right tools and support, growth can emerge even from life’s most difficult seasons.

I have experience supporting clients through grief and loss, chronic illness, caregiver burnout, and a range of other life and mental health challenges. At the core of my practice is helping clients strengthen their relationship with themselves and others by using evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Together, we will explore your values and build the capacity to meet your needs—starting with a foundation of self-love and self-compassion. Through this process, you can begin a meaningful journey of healing, growth, and personal transformation.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the next chapter of your life? Not knowing where the current path is leading can feel discouraging—but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to help you take the next best step toward growth and lasting change.

I have extensive experience supporting adults who find themselves in unexpected life circumstances, whether through divorce, career shifts, or other major transitions. I also have a passion for working with current and former athletes, as well as fitness-minded individuals who may be struggling with identity, motivation, or adjusting to life beyond sports.

My approach is holistic, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), while also integrating the benefits of physical activity to strengthen both mental and physical well-being.

In our sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are explored with care and curiosity. Together, we’ll set meaningful goals and build the tools you need to create balance, resilience, and fulfillment in your life. Let’s work together to chart a path forward.

It takes courage to seek help from someone you may not have met before. My goal is to honor that courage by providing a safe, trusting space where your feelings are heard and respected. Together, we can gently uncover and process painful messages, patterns, and unresolved issues as you move toward healing and growth.

My passion lies in helping individuals with self-discovery, personal growth, and empowerment; supporting couples in building healthier communication and relational habits while rediscovering joy in their connection; and walking alongside older adults as they reflect on the past while finding peace and fulfillment in the present.

In our work together, I draw on evidence-based approaches—including Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Family Systems Therapy. Through these methods, we will explore your sense of purpose, clarify your values, and align your life with what matters most—celebrating every step of progress along the way.

It is an honor when clients entrust me with their stories, and I am committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you feel empowered to make meaningful progress toward your goals.

I have experience working with children, teens, families, and adults navigating a wide range of challenges—from everyday stress to more complex concerns such as trauma and domestic violence.
